STANLEY WARSHAWSKI Obituary

DR. STANLEY JOSEPH WARSHAWSKI
1916 2007 'MAY IT NEVER BE WORSE...BETTER? WE DON'T NEED IT!' With the same humour, grace and dignity with which he lived his life, Stan passed away in the early hours of January 13th, 2007. He was the last surviving child of a pioneering family of nine from Chipman, Alberta. During his 90 years he was a farmer, butcher, bootlegger, hotelier, WWII Medical Corps Captain, outdoorsman, philanthropist, university professor and ENT Surgeon. But for him, his most important achievements were as a husband, father and grandfather. He leaves a legacy of love for life and family that lives on in his children and grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory are Pearl, his wife of 58 years; his children, Barbara (Art Hess), Carol (Ron Pawlowski), Bob (Maria Jarman), Frank (Avril Karr), S. Joe (Joan Goodyear), Mary Jane (Craig Hougen) and Lisa (David Maxwell); as well as his adored eighteen grandchildren, Jason Seguin (Anett Kralisch), Paul, Jennifer; Marek, Sean, Marissa; Ryan, Kassia, James, Andrew; Anna, Nicholas, Patrick, Peter; Michael, Sarah; Jonathan and Caitlin. Special thanks to Corey Paul for her outstanding care, as well as the nursing staff of unit 43 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, January 20 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Basilica, 10044 113 Street. Private interment. In keeping with his giving spirit and commitment to the community, any donations may be made to the Sign of Hope Campaign, c/o Catholic Social Services, 8815 99 Street, Edmonton, AB T6E 3V3. Dear Warshawski Family, My Name is Lynn and it was Dr Warshawski that SAVED My Life, When I was Born with Bi Choanal Atresia in November 1965 and Stayed till 6 Months Later. My Understanding is that He Developed the Instrument and the Procedure as I was the Only patient He Ever saw with My Condition. I wrote Him and Got to Meet Him when I required More Surgeries in 1984.
Do to Life, I Lost Touch, But I want His Family to Know, How Much He Meant to Me, ALWAYS Lynn

Dear Warshawski Family, Please accept my deepest condoloences. It was not long ago that Judge Wachowich was telling stories about how patients would get confused between those two doctors with the Polish last names that started with W, and ended with ski!

In many ways we always felt that we had an extended family in our neighbourhood... all of the families that were so close and who shared so much. This was a testament of not only what a wonderful man Dr. Warshawski was, but also to what a truly wonderful family he had around him. We've lost men who were giants, and their absence will always be felt. But feel good in your hearts to have been so lucky to have been a part of the life of a truly special man. Thinking of you all.

Dear WARSHAWSKI Family,

Always held Stan (who I never got over calling "Uncle Stan" since a kid) in high regard.

Even though down here in Calgary, occaisionally our paths would cross, be it on a ski slope years ago, or regarding our faith and such.

Our world is a better place for his having been with us.

Our condolences,
Wayne, (Annabelle) Achtem & Family
(Son of Angela & Joseph Achtem)

Lillian & I were very saddened to hear of Stan passing away. We had many wonderful memories of him with the good times together at the lake, on holidays, and hunting etc. One Holiday we specifically recall in 1970 when we met in Owahu, Hawaii and shortly thereafter Stephen our Son was born. Stan always referred to Stephen as Kalakua (main street in Waikiki).

Over the years we became good friends and he was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. We shall always remember the fun times we had together and will cherish the precious memories.

We offer our deepest sympathy and we will sincerely miss him.

Sincerely yours

Mike & Lil Collins and family.
