In my thirty plus years as a physician, Stephen cole represented that rare combination of exquisite clinical acumen and unrivaled compassion for his patients. He was always focussed on the care of his patients even as he faced a critical illness himself. He was a shining example to friends, colleagues and students alike of what a physician should be, but rarely is.
He never complained. He always saw the good in others. His glass was always more than half full. He always "brought his 'A' game." He will be sorely missed.

We would like to say how very sorry we are to hear about Dr. Cole passing. We worked with him at SDCPH, where he was always a kind, sweet, gentleman, truly one of the best. He will be missed. Our prayers will be with his family in their time of sorrow and sadness.

WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS OUR SADNESS UPON LEARNING OF STEPHEN'S DEATH. I AM ALSO A MYELOMA PATIENT AND I KNOW FULL WELL HOW DIFFICULT THESE LAST YEARS HAVE BEEN FOR HIM AND HIS LOVING FAMILY. HE WAS A WOMDERFUL AND KIND MAN. ALL OF US THAT KNEW HIM AT THE SAN DIEGO MYELOMA SUPPORT GROUP SHARE IN HIS STRUGGLE AND HE WILL ALL MISS HIM. HOW SAD THAT A CURE FOR THIS DREADFUL DISEASE DID NOT COME ALONG SOON ENOUGH FOR STEPHEN. MAY GOD BLESS HIM ALWAYS AND GIVE STRENGTH TO REISSA AND HILLERY IN THE DIFFICULT TIMES AHEAD.
