Stephen DIXON Obituary

STEPHEN THOMAS DIXON June 7, 1929 - June 1, 2022 Steve Dixon died June 1, 2022 in Oakville, Ontario, holding the hand of Ruth, his wife of 70 years. He was 92. The son of Elliot and Florence Dixon (Brocklebank), Steve was born and raised in Walkerton, where the family put down roots in the 1870s. Steve graduated with a BA in Business Administration from Western University (Honours, 1953), where he found inspiration in the case method. After two years with a family firm he worked 35 years with Cyanamid Canada, retiring in 1990 as vice president and general manager of its medical device division. He also held management positions in the company's medical products, building products and chemicals businesses, as well as corporate development. Promotions took Steve from Toronto to Winnipeg, Vancouver, Montreal then back to Toronto, so he and Ruth experienced the country as they raised a family along the way. In addition to his wife Ruth (Wiles), Steve is survived by his four children, Bruce (Minda Miloff), Robert (Shao Chyi Lee), Kathryn Robson (George Robson) and Lois (Kent Jones), and eight grandchildren. Steve was predeceased by his brother, Gordon. Steve's long and active retirement was highlighted by summers with Ruth at their cottage in Kincardine, overlooking Lake Huron, just down the beach from a cottage where they honeymooned in 1952. An athlete in his youth, Steve remained a skier into his seventies and a fisherman and golfer well into his eighties. At Steve's request, a private commemorative gathering will be held and interment will be at Walkerton Cemetery.

My regards to the family and his wife, Ruth. My husband,Dr. Frank Philbrook, had the privilege of working with Steve and enjoyed the relationship over several years. He was often spoken of with good memories of a healthy, respectful relationship in the corporate world. God bless him and a very successful journey in life.
