Stephen RAMSAY Obituary

Steve was larger than life and he will be deeply missed. After a long battle following cancer in 2011, he passed away peacefully at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital. Survived by his wife, Janie (Boxer), they shared 55 years together raising three children, whom he adored. Proud dad to Jennifer (Nick), Ian (Jenny) and Andrew (Jessica). Steve was actively involved in coaching their childhood sports and was their biggest champion. From early mornings at the rink to sunsets on the water, Steve taught them how to skate, swim, waterski and everything in between. Much loved Papa Steve-O to Reis, Will, Maeve, Gordie and Miller. He took immense pride in his grandchildren and was the first to celebrate all of their sporting and artistic achievements. Steve was a big brother-in-law to Barb McWhirter (Peter) and Nancy Boxer (Ian); and an enthusiastic uncle to Matt McWhirter (Emilie) and Katie McWhirter (Adam). In his professional life, Steve spent the first half of his career in software sales and marketing before finding his true passion in real estate. For the past 22 years, he was a valued member of The Lakelands Association of Realtors, working proudly in Muskoka alongside his son, Andrew, with The Ramsay Team. Friends remember Steve as the life of the party. He welcomed everyone with open arms, always ready to offer advice on any topic. Hard working until the very end, Steve's dedication and enthusiasm leaves a lasting impression on all who knew him. Donations in his memory can be made to the Princess Margaret or The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). There will be a celebration of life for Steve later this summer at his beloved forever home on Clear Lake, Muskoka. And remember; keep your arms straight and knees bent. The rest is history.
