A fine professor and a fine man. As a former student, I remember him well and appreciate all that I learned from him. He was one of the few people I knew that could speak in compete paragraphs.

Professor Waddams made thoughtful and convivial contributions to the Senior Common Room at Trinity College, when I was affiliated with it in the early 1990s. He combined an outsize intellect with a modest ego, a rare mix within the ivory tower. I have very fond memories of our conversations, and his example of how to be a humane scholar.

May he rest in peace,

Stephen had a superb mind but he also was a lovely and gentle person, with a wonderful, wry sense of humour. He was very kind to me as I started my academic career at the law school and I will always be grateful - he was particularly keen on us persuading all our colleagues that morning tea was the high point of civilization! My sincere condolences to Suzanne and all his family. Colleen M. Flood
