Suzanne BRISTOL Obituary

SUZANNE BRISTOL (nee Forrester) Wife of 26 years to Rob and mom to Forrester; daughter of Jim Forrester (Janet Hood); sister to Carrie Forrester (Mark Blanchard); aunt to Alex and Emma Blanchard and Chris and Kevin McFarland; sister-in-law to Bonnie Bristol (late Ed Caron) and Allan Bristol. Predeceased by her mom, Lynda Forrester; and parents-in-law, Marilyn and Charlie Bristol. Suzanne died in her sleep at home in Georgetown, Ontario on October 26, 2022, at the age of 54. She was brave and courageous while living with cancer and its many challenges. Suzanne was opinionated, competitive, determined, kind, generous, funny, passionate, sassy, and loyal. She looked for the best in everyone and was a glass half full kinda gal. She brought laughter, enthusiasm, and delicious food everywhere she went. She cherished her lifelong friends, and cultivated new friendships throughout her life. She adored most dogs, and was secretly wary of those who didn't. She did not feel the same way about cats. Nor could she tolerate mean or cheap people, bullies, or Trump. She was a proud Canadian and champion of the underdog. With her outgoing personality and great sense of humour, Suzanne had a successful career in sales, notably Dell, UTC Sports, and QRC Logistics. She loved and lived all things food, from cooking, reading cookbooks, trying new recipes, watching cooking shows, visiting farmers' markets, and shopping for groceries. She enjoyed planning dinners and cocktail parties and weekends with friends, and spending time at the cottage in Algonquin Park, her happy place. Suzanne played many sports in her youth, and grew up skiing at Beaver Valley. Later Suzanne got a kick out of beating all the dads in ski races at Milton Heights. She continued to enjoy many sports as a fan, especially the Olympics, downhill skiing, tennis, Blue Jays games, and Forrester's lacrosse games. For a decade she combined her social and creative skills to organize March break ski trips for up to 300 people. In the past year during breaks from treatment she checked off some bucket list items by going on beach getaways to Cancun and more recently to the US Open in September. She mastered how to make lemonade when life handed her lemons, especially when her dreams were delayed by the pandemic and then derailed by cancer. Her greatest joy and legacy was being a really fun, devoted, and incredibly supportive mom to Forrester. She was so proud of him and loved him unconditionally. Gone too soon, Suzanne will be missed enormously by her family and friends, including her best friend of 42 years, Lisa Wilson Duff; her Source Lake Sisters: Carrie, Cat Davis Ahmed, Laura Decker, Jocey Smith, Allie Chisholm-Smith, Sue Warner, and Tracy Anderson; Martha Ferguson, Marije Boks, and many others too numerous to mention. Her wish was to be remembered with an annual cocktail party (or dinner party, or hot dog roast, or all three!) where we would tell funny Suzanne stories. We will remember her generous nature, sparkle, quick wit, contagious giggle, funny quips and sayings, and her made up silly songs. She was the 'bee's knees', and 'all that and a bag of chips!' Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Suzanne's life will be held in at the Trinity Anglican Church in Aurora at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 27. Please email [email protected] for details. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Terry Fox Foundation.
