MELVILLE, Sylvia Patricia
Peacefully at The Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga, Ontario on Wednesday, February 5, 2003, in her 44th year, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Loving wife of John. Devoted mother of Liam (8) and Callum (6). Fun-loving older sister of Bettina Pugliese and her husband Tony of Ottawa. Cherished niece and godchild of Sigrid and Hubert Ottinger of Brampton. Dear aunt of Nicolo Pugliese and Katherine and Colleen Putzig. Loved daughter-in-law of Dr. Malcolm Melville and sister-in-law of Alistair Melville and Dianne and Dallas Putzig, all of Burlington. Will be fondly remembered by her many dear friends and colleagues at Mentor College and TEAM School, Mississauga, The Oriental Martial Arts College, Mississauga and her inspirational and supportive sisters of the Wellspring Breast Cancer Support Group, Halton- Peel. Sylvia embraced life and always rose to a challenge. Her favourite times were spent at the cottage in Red Bay, Ontario, with the family, going for walks in the evening and watching the famous Lake Huron sunsets, cinnamon knots from Elliotts, trips to the Frog and Nightgown and across to Manitoulin Island on the Che-Cheemaun while enjoying a great cup of coffee. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Saturday 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 3-5 p.m. where a Private Family Service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2003. Cremation. Friends are invited to join with the family for a Service of Remembrance at Pineland Presbyterian Church, 5270 New Street, Burlington on Saturday, February 22, 2003, at 11 a.m. The Reverend Andrew Reid officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wellspring Halton-Peel, 2545 Sixth Line, Oakville, Ontario, L6J 4Z4, would be sincerely appreciated. The family and friends wish to thank the dedicated nursing staff on the Palliative Care Ward at The Credit Valley Hospital for their compassion throughout this most difficult time.
Sylvia will be remembered as a friend to many and an inspiration to all.
