T.P. DEVASSY Obituary
T.P. (DEV) DEVASSY Passed away peacefully on March 15, 2022, in Toronto in his 92nd year. He is survived by Mary, his wife of 52 years; his brothers, Joseph and Paul (India); his brother, Francis (Canada); his sisters, Teresa and Annie (India) and his numerous nephews and nieces in Canada, India, US, and UK. Dev cared deeply about the people in his life and in his community and invested heavily in the welfare of others. He made family a priority and would seize every opportunity to bring family together to celebrate the small and big achievements in one another's lives. Dev built a life in Canada over 56 years. In that time, he became a high performing SunLife insurance agent and an accomplished businessman. He also helped found the Toronto Malayalee Samajam. Prior to his arrival in Canada, he had multiple diplomatic roles, in Ethiopia and the UK, after he completed his education in his birthplace of Kerala. Dev loved Canada, especially his adopted hometown of Toronto, and helping newcomers settle down here was one of his greatest passions. His other passion was traveling around the world. He was fluent in Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, English and Tamil, and was schooled in Sanskrit and Latin. His absence will be felt by many whose lives he nurtured and touched, and he will be sorely missed. Visitation to be held at Highland Funeral Home Scarborough Chapel, 3280 Sheppard Avenue East, west of Warden Avenue on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Funeral mass at will be held at St. Timothy Catholic Parish, 21 Leith Hill Road, North of Sheppard Avenue East and west of Don Mills Road on Saturday March 19, 2022 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
