Dr. Ted (Edward) Vaughan-Neil, B.M.; B.Ch; M.A.; M.R.C.S.; FRCP; FACC - It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of our beloved Ted on May 24, 2025. Ted will be forever missed by his cherished wife, Ann; his family in the UK and Canada; friends; colleagues worldwide; the family of nuclear technologists at Scarborough Health Network; neighbors, and by all who met and knew him. Ted retired only three years ago after serving as Chief of Nuclear Medicine for 30 years at Scarborough Health Network (SHN). Ted was kind, generous and dedicated to his medical practice; selfless and forthright, humble and always eager and enthusiastic to teach, mentor, discuss and dialogue over work interests or mutual interests as music or simply to enquire how their families and children were doing. After years of extensive training and post-graduate work, Ted was a highly skilled specialist holding the distinction as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Internal Medicine (1976) Cardiology (1978) C & USA and Nuclear Medicine in 1992 (C&USA) Ted used this knowledge and skill for the good of others. Ted went up to Oxford University, London, at the age of 17, having successfully sat for the formidable entrance exams and personal interviews required at that time for prospective applicants. Ted delighted in attending and meeting his Oxford University fellow alumni at the 50th Golden Anniversary reunion in 2008. Renewed friendships and new friendships with fellow alumni Selwyn Kossuth and his wife, Pippa, became a lasting legacy we have cherished and enjoyed to this day. To balance his intense work life, he read books of all genres; he listened to music of all eras, but mainly classical; spent time with wonderful friends; attended theater; enjoyed a game of golf with Dr. Bill Appell and Dr. Don Borrett - when he could fit it in his day. On retiring, Ted greatly missed the collegiality that his work provided. A special thank you to Donna, his secretary at SHN for her phone calls, updates and kindness over the years. We will all miss Ted's enduring warmth, humour, and exuberance for life. A Celebration of Life will be held for Ted starting with Visitation on June 26, 2025, at the Turner & Porter Funeral Home at 2357 Bloor St. W., from 4-7 p.m. The church service is the next day, June 27, 2025, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 3055 Bloor St. W., at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted's memory may be made to Help us Help, a registered charitable non-profit organization since 1993, providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine www.helpushelp.charity, or to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario would also be appreciated. A reception will follow after the service. Details will be announced at the end of the service. "Though you're no longer with us your spirit and laughter remain forever in my heart. I will never forget the joy you brought into my life. You were a light in my life, though you are gone, that light will never fade. Your legacy of kindness and love endures" - Author unknown Online condolences may be through
