Dr. Terence Alexander Doran, FRCS(C) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terry on May 18, 2013 at his home in Toronto at the age of 84 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Beloved and devoted husband to Barbara (nee Sagar) for 60 years. Loving father to Susan, Molly, Michael, Peter and Mary. Cherished grandpa to Diane, Melany, Aidan, Kimberly, Jack, William, Margaret, Mehari, and Zerihun. Brother to Molly Pelton (nee Doran). Terry was one of the first Canadian obstetrician/gynaecologists recognized world-wide for his research, which
focused on prenatal diagnosis. He was often referred to as 'the father of prenatal diagnosis'. He eventually became full-time staff at Toronto General Hospital, Director of the hospital's Antenatal Genetics Clinic, and Professor Emeritus in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Toronto. A patriotic Canadian, Terry loved being at the cottage or travelling with Barb and the family, golfing, camping/fishing with friends, reading, and volunteering with the Naval Officers' Association of Canada. Terry loved animals and children. He was the most honest and decent person we have known. Visitation/life celebration will be held on May 31 at the Toronto Hunt Club from 2:30-5:30 p.m., 1355 Kingston Road, Toronto. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on June 1 at Fairlawn Avenue United Church, 28 Fairlawn Ave., Toronto. If desired, donations in Terry's name can be sent to Emily's House Children's Residential Hospice, 558 Gerrard St. E., Toronto M4M 1X8, or sent to
