McLAUGHLIN, Terrence Peter Aurele (Valade)
On Saturday, October 17, 1998 at his residence in Ottawa inner suburb of Vanier, Ontario, after a two year illness with cancer. A resident of the Ottawa area since 1972, Mr. McLaughlin was active in community causes both in the Capital at a federal and municipal level, and in Vanier where he has resided since 1994 and currently sits on The Vanier Public Library Board. Terrence McLauglin was born in Montreal, living and working there until 1964 when he moved to Nassau, Bahamas in mid 1971. Beginning his career as a reporter for the Montreal Gazette in the late 50s, he has been a professional communicator all his life in the private and public sectors. Since 1989 he has worked in communications with the Federal Government. His biography has appeared in Canadian Who's Who for many years and personal achievements include founding presidency of the Freedom of Information Committee ACCESS more than 20 years ago. Predeceased by his father, Lawrence, and mother Isabelle (Valade), he is survived by his sister Mary, of Ottawa, and by three brothers: Patrick of Town of Mount Royal, Quebec; Capt. Dennis, in Canberra, Australia, and Brian of Invermere, B.C., and by their families including their wives, by three nieces and three nephews, as well as by several close friends. A mass of Christian funeral in memory of Terrence will be held on Saturday, October 24, 1998 at 11:00 at Parroise St. Charles, Beechwood Ave, Vanier, Ontario, where all friends are welcome. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre, Volunteer Program, Generaal Campus Division, 501 Smyth Road, Ottawa Ontario, K1H 8L6.
