TERRY ANDERSON Obituary
(Toronto, ON - April 22, 1946 - January 8, 2026) It is with heavy hearts that the family of Terry Kenneth Anderson announces his sudden and unexpected passing on January 8, 2026, while vacationing with his beloved wife, Rosalind. Terry lived a life defined by hard work, a keen intellect, and an irrepressible sense of mischief that brought light to those who knew him. Terry was a fixture of the Toronto legal community for over 50 years. At Anderson and Wylde, alongside his longtime associate and friend, Harry Wylde, he earned a reputation for honesty, diplomacy, and a tireless commitment to his clients. Though he had recently retired, his impact on the profession - and the many lives he touched through his counsel - remains a testament to his character. Born in Lindsay, Ontario, Terry grew up living above his parents' pharmacy. They moved to Whitby, where he attended Henry Street High School before becoming the first in his family to attend university. He funded his education by working as a waiter on the SS Keewatin and the SS Princess Patricia -a role where his genuine interest in people and his trademark humour allowed him to truly excel. Terry was a man who found joy in the unexpected. Whether it was being pulled over on his honeymoon for singing too "exuberantly" with his new bride, or tricking a friend into "sharing the buzz" of an electric fence, Terry's practical jokes were legendary. He was a proud Canadian with a deep love for the outdoors. He hiked the West Coast Trail, biked the trestle bridges of BC, and explored the reaches of Newfoundland and the Gaspé. His heart, however, was often at the family cottage on the Trent Canal, a place he helped his parents build. He spent his days there puttering, canoeing, and transplanting saplings from across the lake - a living legacy of trees that he tracked with precision. Terry's commitment to others extended to his volunteer work with the Epilepsy Association and his lifelong engagement with Canadian politics. Yet, his greatest devotion was to his family. He was an unwavering supporter of his children's dreams and was the "Poppa" who was ready for a game of chess or telling a silly story. His grandchildren: Caelan, Riley, Nate, and Tim, will forever cherish the memories of "helping" him into the lake with an enthusiastic push and seeing him support their interests, such as at swim meets and soccer games. In 2023, the entire family shared a final great adventure, travelling to Scotland and Wales to walk the lands of their ancestors. Terry is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Rosalind (Thomas); his children, Geoff (Kristine Teichrob) and Ashley (Matt Nelson); and his cherished grandchildren, Caelan, Riley, Nate, and Tim. He is also survived by his friend and sister, Lisa Anderson (Chris Stephen); and his sister-in-law, Barbara (Thomas) (Peter Quinn). He will be forever missed and never forgotten. Friends are welcome to join his family at his home on Sunday, April 5, 2026, between 1-3 p.m.
