Thelma BARER-STEIN Obituary

Thelma Barer-Stein, PhD April 24, 1930-July 28, 2017
Goodbye Mom. What an incredible life you lived. From dietician to TV personality, lecturer, author, editor, entrepreneur, speaker, artist, educator, gardener, publisher, entertainer, decorator, gourmet cook and Bon Vivant. Raising us as a single parent, your love and support knew no bounds. Your grace, compassion and beauty lit every room you entered. Rest in peace now Mom.
We love you and will remember you always, Jodi and Bruno, Gordon and Ingrid, and grandchildren: Katie, Connor, Austin, and Georgia.
A private celebration of her life will be held with immediate family. Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada are welcome.

I am saddened to read of your mother“s passing away. I have kept in my hope chest a copy of her You Eat What You Are very big book written in 1979 - reprinted in 1981. This book means so much to me as I sit here with my eyes filling with tears of sadness, empowerment & joy . The cover on the book is of a human man made of vegetables. I am 62 years old and reading this book in college will forever stick in my brain of how important eating healthy & eating ethic foods are to me. I have owned this book for 44 years & I still love going back to read sections of it. My husband is from Switzerland & I have a similar last name to Stein. I will certainly cherish her book for years to come. I see there are updated versions on Amazon. .
