Thomas KNOX Obituary

THOMAS PAUL PATRICK KNOX Thomas Paul Patrick Knox of Southampton, Ontario, died peacefully at home, with his family by his side, on August 24, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth (Nickel); his two children, Michael (Julie) and Tara (Ron); and his 4 awesome grandchildren, Thomas and Nicholas Veenstra of Paisley, and Abigail and Matthew Knox of Milwaukee. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, A. E. and Olga Knox; his brother, A.E." Lal" Knox; his sisters, Gloria Knox O'Donohue and Sheila Knox; and his brothers-in-law, Jim Nickel and Melville O'Donohue. Paul was born in Toronto and lived there and honed his hockey skills at St. Mike's, until he left for Kitchener-Waterloo. Paul was a husband, father, grandfather, gentleman of uncompromising integrity, educator, and elite athlete. He spent his teaching career in Wellington County at schools in Fergus, Erin and at J.F. Ross in Guelph. He turned down a career in professional hockey in order to pursue his education. He played for the K-W Dutchmen while attending university in Waterloo and was a member of the team that represented Canada at the 1956 Olympics in Cortina. Paul and Ruth celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on August 17. A private family celebration organized by Paul has taken place. Cremation has also taken place. If you wish to honour Paul, a donation to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the Stroke Clinic, Community Care Nurses, Dr. Michael Marriott and Emma and Dr. Tara Somerville, for their care and compassion during Paul's illnesses. Arrangements entrusted to Eagleson Funeral Home in Southampton.

Fondest wishes to Ruth and family. Paul was a kind and thoughtful boss to me back in the day at John F. Ross C.V.I., and always a gentleman.
