My dear brother, I can't believe I will never have the opportunity to see you, speak with you or give you one last hug. I wish I had just one short moment to let you know how lucky I felt to have such a wonderful big brother who was my protector when I was young and who was always there to exchange our emergency "war stories" when we both chose health related careers. I will forever hold you close to my heart Tom. Luv you xo

I was shocked to hear of Tom's passing. Although I didnt know Tom as well as many of my co-workers, I did have the privilege of working and interacting with on several occasions. He was always the gentleman and I can never recall a moment when he was quick to anger, or one to talk bad of anyone. Always a friendly hello, and a pleasure to talk to whenever the occasion presented itself. I offer my sincere condolences to his family and close friends. Tom will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him

I came to know Tom shortly after he started working for Toronto Paramedic Services. His compassion and care garnered respect and his demeanor instilled confidence. This was true if you were a coworker, friend or a patient. Many citizens of this province who never knew Tom owe their lives to his skills and many more knew him as their Angel in their time of need. Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss and I pray you find peace and strength from family and friends in the days ahead. Tom was a gift that we thank you for sharing with us.

Tom, almost 27 years ago we were hired together. We worked alongside each other for many years, partnered a few times and became friends over our careers. You always had a smile on your face and a kind word when we crossed paths, you always said hi and asked how I was doing. I was proud to see a colleague rise through the Paramedic ranks as you did. You were a kind, compassionate and caring Paramedic to your patients; a role model for many to follow.
I was proud to stand with you to receive our 25 year watch not so long ago. You always shied away from accolades and reward, even though they were definitely deserved. A very humble soul.
I was very upset to hear of your passing. It was just over a week ago we greeted each other on shift, you with your usual smile and friendly hello, and me with my polite reply wishing you well.
Who would have known this was our last interaction.
Rest easy my friend. Your last shift complete, your last call answered, hang up the stethoscope now Tom, unlace the boots, we've got it from here.
Dispatch, ACP Tom McGovern is 10-19 and 10-7.
Rest in Peace my friend, you will be missed.
