THOMAS COLIN "ROBBIE" ROBERTSON

THOMAS COLIN "ROBBIE" ROBERTSON obituary

THOMAS ROBERTSON Obituary

(Ret'd Warrant Officer, RCAF) (May 14, 1939 – November 10, 2021) Remembering Colin / "Robbie" who passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre on November 10, 2021, in his 82nd year. Loving husband of Lucy Robertson after 59 years of marriage; wonderful father of Sherry (Paul Nazar), Sandra Joy (predeceased) and Fiona; and devoted Grandfather to Sophie-Joy. Affectionately remembered by his brother, Ian Robertson, his wife, Ann, his many cousins and nearly anyone who was fortunate enough to meet him. Colin was a proud Canadian with a kind heart - he was well-travelled, had a love for reading, family road-trips, woodworking, and sailing; he was generous with his vast knowledge of Canadian, British and US War history; is known for his love of classical and bluegrass music as well as his appetite for home-cooked food. He retired after 33 years of service from the Royal Canadian Air Force where he started his career in Station Cold Lake Alberta, then CFB Ottawa; was then promoted to Master Corporal at CFB Trenton where he worked as Airframe Tech in 9-Hangar, in tandem with the Search and Rescue Team; following his promotion to Sergeant, he served a number of years at Spar Aerospace and De Havilland Aircraft at CFB Downsview until his promotion to Warrant Officer and final transfer to CFB Trenton where he retired. We remain eternally grateful to the Staff at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre. The Sunnybrook Team who took such good care of him were also kind enough to share many stories of how they enjoyed his company, his amusing tales and they knew of many of our family memories and his favorite music. Additionally, we remember dear Glenn Watson, the music therapist, who brought Colin so much joy. Our family is forever grateful to know that his final years (part which were during pandemic lockdown without access to family) were spent with Staff who truly cared for and valued him not only for his Military service but also as a Friend. We still miss you so terribly Dad. You made a difference in this world. You'll be loved forever by your Family. Xoxo
