Thomas SANKEY Obituary
THOMAS PHILIP SANKEY
THOMAS PHILIP SANKEY Our lovely Tom, playwright, musician, artist, house-and-home- maker par excellence, died August 26, 2010 at Sunnybrook Hospital. He was 77 and the light of our eyes. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Tom moved to New York as a young man, where he became a successful folk-singer and playwright, winning an Obie Award in 1976 for his play The Golden Screw, subsequently performed in Toronto at The Global Village. An exceptional husband and father, Tom was open-minded, tender- hearted, multi-talented, irreverent and endlessly creative. He leaves his wife, Fiona McHugh, his daughters Heather (Peter), Alyssa (Jeff), and son, Daragh (Lucy) and six grand- children. Memorial: Sept. 1, 4:30 p.m. First Unitarian, 175 St. Clair West. In lieu of flowers, donations to Baycrest Foundation Toronto gratefully accepted. We shall not look upon his like again.
