WELLS, Thomas Leonard (O.Ont, HonDLitt)
Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 11, 2000 at the North York General Hospital, in his 71st year, after a brave battle with cancer. Tom, beloved husband for 46 years of Audrey (Richardson). He will be remembered with great love by his children, Andrew, Brenda (Belgue), Beverley and their loved ones, Susan (Gylander), Robert Low and Garfield Richards. Cherished grandfather of twins Michael and Jeffry (Belgue). Dear brother of Lois (and the late George White), brotherin-law of of Lorna (and the late Ted Zavitz). Predeceased by brother-in-law James Richardson. Uncle of Bruce, Heather, Scott, Steve, Richard, Brian, Jeffrey, Danny and Julie. Educated at Malvern Collegiate and the University of Toronto, Tom devoted his life to Public Service. Tom was the M.P.P. for Scarborough North from 1963 to 1985, serving as a Cabinet Minister in the Governments of John P. Robarts and William G. Davis. Upon retirement from the Provincial Government he continued to serve Ontario as its Agent General in London, England from 1985-1992. The family wishes to thank Drs. W. Wells, K. Stewart, M. Rother, V. Lee, P. McLaughlin and J. Carr for their tremendous efforts and support during his illness. The family will receive friends at the Jerrett Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge Street (2 lights south of Steeles) on Saturday, October 14 from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, October 15 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Tom's Life will be held at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, 230 St. Clair Avenue West on Thursday, October 19 at 11 a.m. Cremation. Private Interment.
