THOR and MAIJA EKLUND Obituary

Peacefully and after well-lived lives, Thor (March 10, 1935 - January 8, 2026) and Maija (March 3, 1938 - February 5, 2026) left this world 28 days apart. They were cherished by their sons, Erik and Mike (Alexandra); and grandchildren, Matilda, Anna-Liisa, Sofia, James and Jack; as well as extended family, and friends who became family. We will all continue to hold their memories close. Married since June 11, 1960, Thor and Maija made an impression on the many people they met through all their years, Thor as a very decent man whose enthusiasm for life and curiosity about people and places was remarkable, and Maija for her great heart, vitality, and passion for helping others. A celebration of life will take place on March 28th at Agricola Lutheran Church (25 Old York Mills Rd., North York, Ontario M2P 1B5) at 2:00 p.m. It will be streamed online at www.eklund.ca/thor&maija. In memory of Thor and Maija, please consider a donation to Suomi Koti Nursing Home (suomikoti.ca). Please email us at [email protected] should you need further information.

Yesterday

Wow. What a sad note. How quickly over 55 years has passed , since we first met. This notice evokes a myriad of wonderful past memories , and shared experiences. We first met at our first house , in 1970 , on Plateau Crescent in Don Mills. They were good times with plenty of memorable moments, from the Coopers , to House League Hockey , and school. etc.. Both Maija and Thor were fine people, with big hearts and welcoming personalities , who enjoyed laughter and fun. We can't say enough about your family and the positive influences you had in those early years. So sad to see this era come to an end for you, Erik and Mike, and for your own personal families. Andy, Rob, and Alison also express their condolences to both of you , in this solemn moment. Our best wishes go out to your immediate and extended families , as well. Hopefully you are all well.
May your parents rest in peace and tranquility. Rich and Jill , Andy , Rob , and Alison Mason (Agostino).
