Dr Cook was one of the best if not the best professor I had the privilege of knowing and learning from. My condolences to the family.

He encouraged me to write my impressions of my Great Grandfather´s experience during WWI and we developed an excellent email rapport. He was kind, enthusiastic and supportive. I was very much looking forward to a trip to Ottawa one day soon to meet him. Sadly he´s been lost to everyone. What a tragedy!!

I had read Tim's book " Secret History of Soldiers" and had sent him an email saying how much I enjoyed his book. He was very prompt to acknowledge my email which I very much appreciated. Also he appeared in the documentary " Hidden Heroes" with myself. I wish I could have met with him as I admired his work and he was so down to earth. My condolences to his family and friends.

I was fortunate enough to direct a couple of Tim´s Audiobooks and got to work with him. A real loss to the Canuck history buffs across the country. Condolences to his family who live with the greater loss.

I met Tim Cook at Wordfest in Calgary 8 years ago. I shared my Scottish grandfather´s military story of the first 7 battles of WW1. Tim knew the exact history of that time and encouraged me to write his story even though it was not a Canadian story. Thank you to Tim, a wonderful memory of a true Canadian! He is missed and appreciated.

Dear Sharon, Sarah and family: I have just learned of Tim's passing while listening to the Remembrance Day coverage from Ottawa. I am so very sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of first meeting him at the Lakefield Literary Festival in 2024. I was completely taken with his passion for history during the talk he gave. I can see that not only will his loss be deeply felt by his family and friends, but also by the wider community which was so well served by his knowledge and intense desire to share it with all Canadians. I offer my sincere condolences to all of you. May your many happy memories of Tim sustain you in the days to come.

Part of the tradition of Remembrance Day ceremonies that I always looked forward to was Tim's insights into the history of Canada's participation and contributions to our freedom. He was an amazing storyteller and a great advocate and his light will be missed.
Thank you Tim for your amazing contributions and reminders about our history.
My sincere condolences to his family.

Hello Sarah
So saddened to hear about Tim´s passing. Hope you and your daughters are coping as well as possible under the circumstances.
I knew Tim through his writing. We as Canadians were so fortunate to have Tim articulate our war history in such a relatable way. Truly a giant in Canadian literature. He´ll be missed but definitely not forgotten.

Dear Sarah, Chloe, Emma, Paige, Sharon and Graham
The celebration of life for Tim was quite moving. He was just an incredibly passionate person and it transpired in every aspect of his life. I still remember when he presented himself for an event at RH and suddenly realized that his shoes didn´t quite match. He always looked back and laughed about it.
He was so down to earth.
Sincere condolences to you and your family.
Hugs

My sincerest condolences to Sarah, their daughters, Tim's mother, brother and extended family and, indeed, all of us who knew and appreciated this exceptional human being. Tim will be missed desperately by many for all that he offered. I was lucky enough to have met Tim during our intro week at Trent University when he kindly made an extra effort to draw me (a somewhat socially shy/inept individual who was sitting on the sidelines) into the activities being shared by the new students. He continued to be a good friend throughout our time together at Trent. Although we would share the occasional update over the years, I regret, now, having not stayed in closer touch with him. Deeply moved by the news and reality of his passing as I have been, the only "sense" I can make of his passing at a younger age is that perhaps his time on the planet was shorter than some get because he burned much brighter than many. Tim will long be appreciated by any who knew him and/or his valuable contributions.

I just recently added an entire shelf in the bookcase where I could put Tim's books. I loved all of them. What a loss for Canada. We met a few times at various events. My deepest condolences to his family.

Tim was a remarkable person that my family had the pleasure of knowing for decades. Our heart goes out to all of his family, especially Sarah and his girls. Tim, more commonly known to us as Timbo, was considered a member of our extended family. He and my brother were together everywhere from school, to the football field and many other places inbetween. No matter the situation, He was always a gentleman even when tthings went sideways. As we moved into adulthood, Tim always made time to visit with everyone everytime we visited back home. He was generous with his time and made a big difference to anyone he crossed paths with. No matter what was happening in his life he always made time for my mum for which we will always be greatful and signed many, many copues of his books as she would ensure that all of us got signed copies of everybody book he wrote. Our memories will always shine brighter for knowing and living alongside Tim. God Bless.

In deepest sympathy. Tim's contributions to Canadian historiography were immense, and unforgettable. More to the point, his family has their own, more personal, reasons to remember him.

I remember Tim while I worked at the Museums, in learning and development and while preparing the succession plans. He, of course was one of our rising stars and showed great abilities to lead teams. It seems now he has become a true star, high in the sky and full of promise to watch over his loved ones. I offer my deepest condolences to his family and colleagues for this enormous loss. He leaves behind many pieces of himself, all becoming precious nuggets of his life. Jocelyne Voyer

I am saddened by the passing of Tim. Tim has made an immense contribution to Canadian military historiography. His books, journal articles, magazine and newspaper articles have given us a much better understanding of the conflicts of the 20th century and the role Canada played in them. He wrote in a readable style for everyone. Tim´s curatorial expertise at the Canadian War Museum has added to its appeal to patrons. Finally, he has always been very generous with his time mentoring many, including me. He met with me at many military history conferences, overseas on war and memory tours and at Canada's History functions. Tim always answered my many emails providing sound advice and ideas for my projects. I thank him for this. Tim Cook ranks as one of the best in the pantheon of Canadian military historians. My condolences to Sarah and family. We will miss him.
