Timothy Fellowes Obituary
TIMOTHY EDWARD GEORGE FELLOWES, CD, QC. June 3, 1927 - July 15, 2021 Tim passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2021, at age 94. Born in Winnipeg, he moved to Toronto in 1950 after graduating from United College to attend Osgoode Hall Law School. He had a photographic memory which was unfortunate for his opposing counsel in the many court battles he won as a fierce civil litigator during his career. Well into his 80s, he could recite case law completely from memory. After law school, Tim was called to the Bar in 1954, and appointed One of Her Majesty's Counsel in 1968. He was a Member of Delta Kappa Epsilon, long time member York Downs Golf Club, life member Royal Canadian Military Institute, life member Law Society of Upper Canada, member in Bermuda of Mid Ocean Golf Club and Coral Beach Club, retired officer Canadian Intelligence Corps, member of various provincial Bar Associations, previous taxi driver, ditch digger, skating instructor, salesman, carnival worker, and whatever it took to get through the Great Depression and WWII. The most important aspects of his life were family, his love for his beloved Betty (Elizabeth Jean Fellowes, née Rose), married for over 61 years, and of course, the law. They raised four daughters in the family home on Cortleigh Cres. in Toronto which became a welcome hub to many a friend, neighbour and party! Tim and Betty had many adventures around the world, skiing, golfing and dancing up a storm wherever they went, having as much fun as possible at their homes in Sun Valley, Idaho, Florida and then Bermuda, with many cruises on Silver Seas where many believed them to be hired dance professionals! They spent 16 glorious years in Bermuda, where Tim attempted to retire, but his passion for law, lead him to become the oldest lawyer called to the Bar in Bermuda. He continued to practice part-time until they returned to Canada in 2010. Tim was predeceased by his wife, Betty, in 2016, and is survived by his daughters, Tracey (Dan Gatto), Allison (Ron Strike), Courtney (Paul Jackson) and Meredith; seven grandchildren, Adam (Candace), Ross, Meredith, Blake, Justin, Cole, Hailey; great-granddaughter, Emma; and his sister, Patricia (Fellowes) Quiggin. He spent the last 8 years of his life at the Dunfield Retirement Home in Toronto where his sharp mind, quick wit, dancing skills and penchant for champagne continued to entertain new friends. Many thanks to the wonderful and caring staff who made our Dad's last years so enjoyable. At Tim's request, there is no service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Salvation Army, the Alzheimer Society, or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Tim's favorite charities.
