Tom KAVANAGH Obituary

TOM KAVANAGH 1938 - 2021 It is with sadness that we announce Tom's passing. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Emma (née Hepditch) and his parents, Thomas J. Kavanagh and Ann (née Hammond) of Bell Island, NL. Left to mourn and cherish fond memories of Tom are his sister and brother in Newfoundland, Joan Whittle (Harold, deceased), and Ray (Marilyn); the Kavanagh and Hepditch families; a long list of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; as well his CBC colleagues; and many friends. Tom was born on Bell Island, NL, and later moved to Toronto to continue his rewarding career as a CBC producer. He will be remembered for his quick wit, love, kindness, and genuine interest in his family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Thank you to his Toronto friends for your kindness, especially David Burt. A very special thank you to Jim and Susan Hepditch and their family for their kindness, support, and assistance at this time.

I will always remember Tom as a very sweet, kind, generous man. I first met him when I was a young producer at CBC News in the late eighties. He had a real gift for mentoring fellow journalists. I am sorry for his family's loss. Carrie Schipper
