LOUIE, Tong
Born in Vancouver on March 1, 1914, passed away peacefully at his Vancouver home on Tuesday, April 28, 1998. Tong lived his life wanting to be known as an ordinary hard working man. Hard work has been the very essence of a man whose life has demonstrated in a multitude of ways that he is quite simply extraordinary. Tong is survived by sons Brandt and Kurt and daughter Anndraya; daughters-in-law Belinda and Vivian; son-in-law Steven; grandchildren Gregory, Stuart, Stephanie, Kevin, Graeme, Kelsey and siblings Tim Louie, John Louie, Helen Lim, Beatrice Delane, Willis Louie and Ken Louie. The family also wishes to give thanks to Dr. T. Chang, Dr. Chan-Yan, Dr. Maria Chung and Dr. J. Martini as well as nursing staff Amy Kellogg, Marion Cruickshank, Maureen Patrick, Harriet Miyagawa and Tine Kramer. It is with a deep sense of gratitude that the family extends very special thanks to Pandora Wong, who as Tong's housekeeper made his life so much easier, and Paul Richardson, his personal aide and driver. Tong Louie, a family man, a visionary, a business man, a community man and one person who never said no when things had to be done. A viewing will be held on Sunday, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Ocean View Funeral Home at 4000 Imperial, Burnaby, BC. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 4, 1998 at St. Andrews Wesley United Church, 1012 Nelson Street, Vancouver. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, friends can donate in Tong Louie's name to one of the following charities: St. Paul's Hospital Foundation, YMCA, UBC, SFU, Canadian Diabetes Association, B.C. Heart & Stroke Foundation or any charity of your choice.
