TREVOR CARON Obituary

(November 21, 2025) Peacefully in his 93rd year, while holding his children's hands. Left to treasure his memory are his wife of 66 years, Margaret, son Eric (Sladjana Sarac), daughter Cynthia (Craig Thorburn) and grandsons Trevor and Blake Thorburn. Son of the late Raymond and "Blossom" Caron, he was a caring big brother to Melodie Yates, Derek Caron and the late Daphne Shick. Trevor was a man of incredible integrity, intellectual curiosity and kindness. Despite periods of chronic pain in his life, he never had an unkind word for anyone, and he frequently expressed gratitude for being one of the luckiest people in the world. He married the love of his life, knowing she was "it" from the moment he laid eyes on her at a fraternity party; he cherished the privileges and responsibilities of being a Canadian; and he was an ever-present father and grandfather, whether attending Cindy's ballet recitals, building elaborate snow forts and backyard skating rinks with Eric or taking his grandsons frog hunting to populate "Papa's Pond" at his country oasis at Magog, QC. A romantic, he consistently teared-up when listening to Rachmaninoff. A pragmatist who loved numbers, he was a meticulous Chartered Accountant whose career took him from McDonald Curry audits of champagne bottles at the Ritz Hotel to an executive position at McAllister Towing & Salvage on the Montreal waterfront. He used his management skills as President of the Hillside Tennis Club, as Secretary and Treasurer of The Hermitage Club, and on boards that included the Montreal Parks & Playgrounds Association. Trevor loved "family doubles" tennis, jigsaw puzzles and Caribbean beaches. He played piano with a beautiful touch. He was a good if, sometimes, unorthodox bridge player. He happily traded his beloved MG sports cars for a sturdy VW Beetle with a baby seat when the time came for that. He loved cribbage with his father-in-law, Hector Sparks, and he was of heartfelt service to his parents and in-laws as they aged. Most of all, he was devoted and loving to his family. Right until the end, he told Margie every day that she was gorgeous, something he meant from the bottom of his heart. Trevor's family are very grateful to many who worked to make his latter years the best possible: Caregivers Carol Dayap, Bisrat Reda and Grace Reyes; Dr. Robert Iny; Head of Nursing, Sandra Da Ponte and the rest of the team at Place Kensington; and the ER team at the Montreal General Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be announced in the new year. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Montreal General Hospital Foundation in support of its ER. https://mghfoundation.com/TrevorCaron

We remember Trevor from childhood days. Our parents met at McGill University and shared many years of friendship.
I admired Trevor for his gentle and kind manner. I attended ECS with his sisters, Daphne and Melodie. Eric has many memories with Derek. A lovely family.

Trevor was my mixed doubles partner many times at the Hillside Tennis Club. We enjoyed many laughs together. He, being a Past President, would regale us with wonderful stories about the Hillside and some of the members at our annual dinner. We missed him every year when he was unable to attend.
I´m so lucky to have known both him and Margie. Sue Khan
