Tyler MILNE Obituary

TYLER MILNE July 6, 1979 - August 7, 2023 Tyler 'Tippy' Milne passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on August 7, 2023. At the time of his passing, Tyler had recently become a partner in a new financial advisory firm, completing his real estate licence, while moving into a new home. He achieved all of this while conquering some mental health issues that he was upfront, open and brave about. Tyler went to sleep the night of his passing happy and fulfilled, knowing he was on a great path in life, family and business. His supportive, loving and beautiful wife, Leeann (née Martin); and his young son, Ryder, survive Tyler. Leeann met Tyler on New Year's Eve, 2003, and they quickly became inseparable. She was the love of his life, his rock through tough times, and his best friend through so many good times. The true essence of Tyler is best reflected through his relationship with Ryder. Tyler responded to Ryder's autism with passion, energy and optimism. Together, they were regular fixtures at Ripley's Aquarium, the ROM and the hills of Beaver Valley Ski Club. Through Tyler's love, kindness and tenacity, he helped Ryder develop incredible knowledge and a happy, joyful approach to everything he does. In his teenage years, Tyler was an accomplished skier, competing in moguls at the national level and winning the Ontario Big Air Championship. During those years and into his twenties, he picked up and mastered several other pursuits, including golf, squash, guitar and pool. When he made his mind up that he was going to be good at something, he made it happen. In less than a year, he went from casual pool player to Toronto 8-ball champion. In just a few years, he harnessed his raw power and determination into qualifying for the World Long- Drive Championship. Over the past few years, he turned his focus, drive and athleticism to boxing, where he became a regular and popular fixture at Atlas Gym, achieving great success as a Golden Gloves winner in the over 40 division at the Brampton Cup Tournament. In addition to competing, he was also a mentor to younger boxers. Tyler is a graduate of Laurier University and he holds several designations in the financial industry. He began his professional career (not surprisingly) in sports on the sales team for the Toronto Argonauts. Eventually, he joined his father, Glen 'Gunner' Milne, as a broker at Canaccord/Genuity Wealth Management. Tyler and Gunner were not just father and son; they were business partners, squash partners, ski buddies and best friends. Tyler's Mother, Maureen 'Mo' Milne, was much more than a parent to Tippy as well. She was his confidant, golf partner and when needed, a loving kick in the pants. Glen, Maureen and Tyler's sisters, Tara Kennedy and Lisa Rogers, will miss him dearly. On August 16th, a small family service was held for Tyler - he would not have wanted a traditional visitation and big funeral. Instead, there will be a celebration of his life at the Lambton Golf and Country Club on September 9th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. It will be full of stories, fun and laughter, reflecting Tyler's infectious personality. Please join the celebration and bring along your favourite 'Tippy' stories. In lieu of flowers, Tyler's family is suggesting donations in his name to Autism Canada or CAMH.

Dear Milne Family,

I am very sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of Tippy, from the many ski competitions we did together, to the Canadian Series mogul event we ran together in 2003 at BVSC. I remember Tippy as having a great sense of humour, and that he was always smiling and laughing. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Dear Leeann, Glenn, Mo & Tara

No words can express the sadness we are all feeling during this tragic time. Tippy will always be remembered as this spirited human being that brought life and a smile wherever he was... as a coach to our teams, tippy was the utmost encouraging leader that our kids looked up to... he always made sure they felt positive and energized even when their run was not the greatest... in simple words, Tippy loved the kids and the kids loved him in return. He's made a huge positive impact on so many our our young Beaver Valley Freestyle and SOR athletes. Chantal and I (and Alex and Guillaume) will forever keep such fond memories of our special time skiing, working and hanging out with him.

I am personally saddened by the fact that Tippy and I were scheduled to have lunch together upon my return from sailing... this week.

We hope you will find solace in knowing how much he was appreciated and loved by so many.

Michel, Chantal, Alex & Taylor, and Guillaume

I have many fond memories of Tyler from our time at ART. His big smile and even bigger heart allowed us to have some great conversations about where we were in life, where we wanted to be and how we would get there. He spoke so fondly (very often) of his friends and family and I send my condolences. He was a great gem!
