Victor George Lawson (née Lewonuk), MD, FRCS(C), FACS, Board Certified Otolaryngologist - Head and Neck Surgeon, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, passed away at Liberty Ridge Memory Care, at the age of 89 years, on Thursday, June 5, 2025, in Lexington, KY. Vic will be remembered as a reserved, well-dressed, elegant gentleman. Victor was a man of incredible energy and intellect, generous, and kind. An extraordinary individual whom we will always continue to love and admire. Victor is survived by the love of his life, Joanne Chesney, of 32 years; his sons, David and Andrew (Jennifer Stewart); his daughter, Susie; his daughter-in-law, Lori; his grandchildren, Adam, Kaitlyn, Rebecca, Alexander, and Isla; and the mother of his children, Sandy. He was adored by three generations of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Christina (Nikolaychuk) and Onufrey Lewonuk, who immigrated to Canada from Poland; his sisters, Patricia (Walter) Brooy and Alexandra (Walter) Rennick; his son, Geoffrey; his great-niece, Nicole Steffan; and his nephew, Kent Rennick. Dr. Lawson completed his Medical Degree, a Residency in Otolaryngology, a Fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Toronto, and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Otology at UCLA. He was Chief of Otolaryngology and Chief of Staff at the Toronto Western. Dr. Lawson was interviewed by CNN for "Health Watch" (1982). He was front page in the Toronto Star "Surgery restores cancer victim's face" (1982). Dr. Lawson produced steady research output (1976-1992) advancing surgical techniques. Through his published work he acquired international recognition and accomplishment in the field of Otolaryngology. Dr. Lawson practiced throughout central Kentucky (1997-2021). Donations to the University of Kentucky Sanders-Brown Center on Aging are appreciated. Cremation has taken place.
