Martin was my superior and my mentor in Harlequin for over five years. He was such a gentleman, always nice, fair and helpful to everyone. I learned a lot from him, as a person, and as a manager. May the Almighty God grant him eternall peace in heaven.

For 10 years we were close neighbour's in Streetsville. I have wonderful memories of the Catto family.

Kitty, Sally, Susan and families, please accept our sympathies, Dee and Les (Hulett).
I have many memories of Martin from as far back as Douglas´s wedding when I was six and Martin about 13, right through to a visit to Nyack. Then of course there was the Catto reunion that Martin organized in Streetsville with Bob and Martin giving their rendition of `Old man river´ in suitable deep bass voices. Martin was always up for a laugh. He, quite justifiably, was very proud of his two daughters and their many achievements. This then extended to his grandchildren as well. Later, in retirement he also spent time researching back into Catto family history, assisting Dee and others in the ongoing searches. He always found something to keep his mind and body active. Martin will be missed by many - friends and family.

When I was seven years old I was one of the many neighbourhood kids who played in Martin's front yard at his home in Streetsville. For some reason I took a claw hammer and peeled large areas of bark off of a giant willow there. My parents found out and directed me to go and apologize to Mr. Cato. It was a long walk up that driveway alone. Martin met me at the door, and we make a plan to 'fix' the tree the following day. He was very serious, and wonderfully low key about it. We did paint some kind of tar like goop on the tree the following day, and the tree lived a long and health life.

This is such a beautiful obituary, Susan, with a wonderful conclusion.

Martin came over to the states back in the 60s and met us in Greenwich Connecticut. It was a surprise. Most of the family moved down there in the 18 hundreds for the diamond mines. My Grandfather Robert McLeod Catto came over as a stone cutter / Mason at the turn of the century, to Connecticut. He died in 1918 of the Swine flu.

I certainly agree that Martin was inspiration to all of those whom he mentored, I was one of them at the Oshawa Group. so sorry to read of his passing, may his memory be a blessing.
