It is with great sadness I learnt of the untimely death of my friend Warren Olanow., who I met at the 1988 International Congress of Parkinson's disease in Jerusalem. It was an instant friendship. Our scientific interest merged .He was brilliant in his concepts and ideas. I was honored when he invited me to give the Melvin Yahr Lecture at Mount Sinai Medical school. and two months ego he wrote an amazing letter of recommendation for the Wolf Prize for me. I send my sincerest condolences to the Olanow family..

Warren and Mariana, Edward, James, and Alessandra were neighbors of ours in Westmount, Quebec in the mid 1970s for about 6 months. Our sons played together, and Mariana and I became friends while Warren and my husband, also a Dr., were very busy working. Occasionally, we all got together, and we really missed them when they moved to New York. Our heartfelt condolences to Edward, James, Alessandra, and Andrew, and their loved ones.
Sincerely, Nadir and Lois Bakar in Clovis, CA
