Wayne PATTON Obituary

WAYNE WHILDON PATTON It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Whildon Lorne Patton on January 24, 2024, at the Guelph General Hospital, following a brief stay in the Intensive Care Unit, where he was surrounded by caring staff and love ones. He was born on August 20, 1943, in Brampton, Ontario, and was predeceased by his parents, Aubrey and Viola Patton. Beloved husband of Lois Penelope Patton (aka "Penny"); loved and loving brother of Bud (Gwen, died 2021), Gary (Yvonne, died 2022) and Glen (Laura). He is well loved, and a well-liked and loving uncle of Christopher and Scott Mullen; Melissa, Eric and Danielle Houstoun; Kyla Feeney; Kirk Bosselmann (died 2004); Tiffany, Beth, Jennifer and James Hewson; Lorie Andrews, her sister, Lynne (died 2013); Josh and Cameron Patton; and Dana and David Patton. He is the loved and fondly remembered brother-in-law of Wendy Torode and her husband, Frazer; Don Houstoun; Rainer and Beverley Bosselmann; and Bill and Nancy Hewson. He is a fondly regarded person of many other relatives, was a good neighbour, and a charming and cheerful friend of the many people who got to know him. Wayne's love of music helped him forge a career in the music business, beginning in the late 1960s and onwards into the 1970s, '80s, and '90s. He was given the opportunity to work for several major record companies, including Capital Records, CBS Records and Sony Music. He worked as business executive and public relations man in charge of music publishing for most of those years, developed a global network of friends and associates, and participated in international corporate conferences that took him to the annual Cannes Music Festival in France as well as to major cities such as New York, Los Angeles, London and Paris. He worked hard and learned a lot. Before he retired from the world of work, he also taught music publishing and related courses at the Toronto International School of Design and Technology, and enjoyed mentoring young college students eager to build their own futures within the music industry. During his working years he travelled widely, made and maintained friends both near and far, and did well because he was a good listener and was always glad to offer helpful advice where and when he could. He was also a kindhearted man. His passing will be mourned and he will be missed by all those who knew him and loved him, or simply liked him and enjoyed his company. Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph. Cremation has taken place, and a Funeral Service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024. Visitation starting at 1:00 p.m., and a reception is to follow the Service in the Hart Fellowship Lounge. If desired, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. In lieu of flowers, a tree may be planted in a Memorial Forest of your choice.

Penny and myself go back as best buddies from age 7 and both of us horse obsessed. She remains to this day my oldest and dearest pal. Needless to say I really wanted a fellow in Pen's life who appreciated Penny for all her amazing talents and good heart. Wayne ( Dino) as I knew him, was that fellow. Always a smile , a joke, tea put on, and an ever encompassing full to the brim hearted love for Pen.
My heart is so very sad for the loss of him...but also so very grateful that we had him in our lives.

I am very sorry to hear of Wayne's passing. Wayne and Penny played a big role in my adolescence, and were role models to the socially awkward youth that I was. Wayne was unfailingly kind to me, with a great sense of humour. Thank-you Wayne. Hugs to Penny.

I met Wayne around 1989 through a friend Ron LaSalle. Wayne was the one who really helped me in my song writing critiquing everything I wrote and he was always right. Over the years we got to know each other really well spending some weekends with Wayne and Penny, Letting the kids see the horses and feed the chickens is something they still talk about. Wayne you will truly be missed RIP love you brother.
