Wayne SCOTT Obituary



OCTOBER 19, 1933 ­ JANUARY 25, 2010 WAYNE SCOTT Wayne Scott was born in Sarnia, Ontario, the first son of Gideon and Stella (Toner) Scott. He grew up and was educated in Windsor, where he began work on the Ontario Hydro frequency conversion project in 1953. He and Sylvia (Robertson) married in 1955 and began to raise their family in the Hamilton area. In 1958, Wayne joined the Cooperators Group working in Hamilton, Toronto and Guelph. In 1977, he moved to Calgary as division vice-president for Western Canada. He returned to Guelph in 1983 to manage Co-operators General Insurance Company at that time Canada's largest fire and casualty insurer. Following Wayne's retirement from the Co-operators, he returned to Calgary in 1995. Wayne served on boards of several national insurance associations, various educational, health and charitable organizations as well as a number of companies. He is survived by his brother, Dale (Edwina), of Burlington, Ontario, by his wife, Sylvia and their children: Shane (Kim), Darcy, Kelley (Ian) and Erin (Neil); and grandchildren: Mitchell, Connor, Sarah, Keirstyn, Scott, Cameron and Madison, all of Calgary. A memorial service and reception will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 2:00pm at McInnis and Holloway's Crowfoot Chapel, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary AB.
