WILF GILLESPIE Obituary

In Loving Memory March 27, 1941 - August 6, 2025 Wilfred Andrew Gillespie of Toronto, Ontario, passed away on August 6th, at 84 years of age. Wilf was born in Erskine, Alberta, and left for Winnipeg, Manitoba, to pursue a career as a Chartered Accountant. He graduated in 1964 and was transferred to his firm's Toronto office. He left public accounting in 1964 and worked for various companies, until 1974 when he joined Wrigley Canada Inc. and remained until his retirement in 2001. Wilf married in 1965 and his daughter (Gabrielle) and son (Stéfan) were both born in Toronto. His marriage ended in divorce and he remained single there after. Wilf loved his family deeply and got great joy out of time spent with Huxley and Lana, his two grandchildren. He enjoyed his business career, especially his many years at Wrigley's. Wilf's creed was "be kind, be patient," and he tried to live his life that way. Wilf was predeceased by his parents, James and Elsie Gillespie; brothers, Grant, Duncan, and Jim; sisters, Mary and Gladys; brother-in-law, Ron Winn; and sisters-in-law, Melba and Doris. Wilf is survived by his daughter, Gabrielle (partner, Kyle Hodgins), and grandson, Huxley; his son, Stéfan (Kora) Gillespie, and granddaughter, Lana; his brother, Don (Carol) Gillespie, and his sister-in-law, Helen Gillespie; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In complying with Wilf's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial.

Wilf and I were friends for many years. He hired me at Wrigley Canada in 1979, and we worked together for over 25 years. Our friendship continued even after we both retired. I had a lot of respect for Wilf, he was a good man and he will be missed. My condolences to his family.
