Wilford ANDERSON Obituary

DR. WILFORD LLOYD ANDERSON November 22, 1926 - March 22, 2023 Dr. Wilford Lloyd Anderson passed away peacefully in Oakville, Ontario on March 22, 2023, in his 97th year, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Patricia. Wilf has joined their first child, Stuart, who died in 1957. His brother, Ron, a Captain in the United States Army, predeceased him in 1962. Wilf will be missed by his children, Christopher (Christine) Anderson, Jonathan (Suzanne) Anderson, twins, Tracy Lee (Edward) Sweet and Diedre (Wayne) Fluet, and Lesley Anderson. Grandfather to Sarah, Phillip, Hayley, Stuart, Mitchell, Lauren, Michael, Matthew, Caitlin, Laura and Martha. Great-grandfather to William, Sophia, Lucy, August and Nolan. Born in Moundsville, West Virginia to Marcia Tkach and Wilford Anderson, the family moved to Toronto prior to settling in Oakville in 1943. Wilf graduated from the University of Toronto medical school and practised as a family physician in Oakville for 42 years. Wilf met his beloved wife, Patricia Audrey Wilson at Oakville - Trafalgar High School, they married in December 1950 and raised their family in Oakville. Wilf lived life fully. An accomplished pianist, he was an avid sportsman, played hockey, football, basketball, but his true passion was golf. In the 1960s, Wilf, along with two business partners, developed the Upper Canada Golf and Country Club on land purchased from the Jesuit Priests. Later the partners sold their interest in the golf course which is now known as Glen Abbey Golf Club. Another passion and source of endless family memories was Wilmar, the family cottage established in the 1930s on Lake Nosbonsing in Northern Ontario. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. McDowell, Natalie Clark, Jim Saluri and the caring staff at Post Inn Village in Oakville. A Celebration of Life will be held at Mississaugua Golf and Country Club, 1725 Mississauga Road, Mississauga, on April 2nd at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.

Dear Mrs. Anderson and Family,
Our condolences on the passing of your wonderful husband and father.
I worked part time for Dr. Anderson in the nineties until his retirement. He was always kind and very accessible to his patients. I enjoyed every day I worked there.
Dr. Anderson always treated his staff to an amazing Christmas dinner at the Mississauga Golf and Country Club. Dr. and Mrs. Anderson also hosted us for lunch at their beautiful farm. I have such good memories of a very special man.

Pat - my condolences on the passing of your Dear Husband Wilf. During our many golf games at Wyldewood Golf Club you spoke of him often and of your time at your cottage with your family. My late husband John thought highly of Wilf as they shared a
love of golf and hunting.
Keep the memories in your heart as you heal from your loss.

Dear Jon / Chris / Tracy / Deedee / Lesley: We just wanted to express our sincere condolences on the passing of your father. I certainly have very fond memories of the front yard hockey rink, and regular parties (new years in particular) at your house, and in some instances, your father joining in a hockey game! Our (my wife Diane) thoughts are with you in this difficult time. Warmest regards.

What a great loss to the family. Dr. Anderson was a good friend of my father, George Shaw. Many hours were spent in duck blinds and on golf courses. Rest in peace.

My sincerest condolences to the family. Wilf was my father-in-law and I have many memories of the time we shared, particularly at the cottage playing euchre under the hissing propane lights above. He was a very kind and supportive man to me, even when I used his better wood planks to build a replacement table to skillet fish. He was a renaissance man in many ways. Gifted in his woodworking/craftsmanship skills as he was in planting and enjoying his harvest. And his harvest, besides potatoes etc.. included a wonderful family that I was privileged to come to know. Respect.
