Bill was my boss back when I was dealing with Japan in the 19 70s. I couldn't have wanted more support, intelligence, perspective and good humour. I was lucky to visit him with Vyvyan later in Bangkok. He is one of those truly unforgettable people.

I always respected Bill and thoroughly enjoyed my time with him and Vyvyanin the embassy in Bangkok. Loved their senses of humour and our companionship.
