GIRLING, William George
Peacefully at Parkwood Hospital, Veteran's Care, London, on Friday, November 15, 2002. William G. Girling of London, in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Frances for almost 62 years. Loving father of Sylvia (Guelph) and David (London). Devoted grandpa to Gavan, Ryan and Jesse. Fondly remembered by Alan Watson. Dear brother of Frank (Toronto) and the late Harry (Windsor) and their families. Caring brother-in-law and uncle to Frances' family.

Bill was an avid and dedicated naturalist who shared his love of the out-of-doors with many. Long time member of the McIlwraith Field Naturalists Club and the Federation of Ontario Naturalists, he was the first director of the London Board of Education's Outdoor School. He was also the first-ever recipient of the F.O.N's Richards Educational Award for his 'exceptional' contribution to natural history education. As well, Bill was active in his church, the Boy Scout movement and the London Horticultural Society. Bill was a tireless and dedicated volunteer, receiving the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation for his 'significant contribution to fellow citizens'. Memorial Service will be held at St. Stephen's Memorial Anglican Church, 727 Southdale Road East, London on Wednesday, November 20, 2002. In Bill's honour, any memorial donations may be made to Parkwood Hospital Foundation, 801 Commissioners Road, E., London, Ontario N6C 5J1 or a nature organization of your choice. Memorial Funeral Home, London (519) 452-3770 entrusted with the arrangements.
