William HATCH Obituary

HATCH, William McLaren
Bill, 83, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, September 3, 2007. Bill was a loving husband to Nancy, his best friend. He will be dearly missed by his sons Bill and Harry and his daughter Heather. He will be buried beside his late daughter Debbie, who passed away in 1989. Bill will also be remembered by his grandchildren Jay, Heather, Andrew, Bill, Robin and Haley.

Bill was a successful businessman and a keen sportsman. His business career was centered around McLaren's Foods in Hamilton, where he was owner and president. He was a CIBC board member for many years, as well as Jannock Limited, Mediacom Industries, Maple Leaf Gardens and the Olympic Trust of Canada. Bill was an avid squash and tennis player and served as president of the Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto. He loved horse racing and owned thoroughbreds for many years in Ontario.

The family will hold a service for Bill at Glenview Presbyterian Church, 1 Glenview Avenue, Toronto, on Friday, September 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.

Bill filled all of our lives with love, music and the occasional bad joke. We are deeply saddened to lose a wonderful Dad and a true gentleman.

We thank all the many caring people at South Shore Regional Hospital who made Bill's last month comfortable. If you wish to make a donation in Bill's memory, we would ask you to consider South Shore Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. So long ago but I remember well that Bill would visit my neighbours in Toronto( Gerard Doherty, Carl Higgenbotham) and play guitar for us. His niece(I think) was my classmate at King Edward School. Lost touch with them all, sadly. I know a personality like Bill´s will be missed dearly.
