With great sadness Bill's family announces his passing at this home in Barrie, Ontario on September 30, 2004. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his children: Stoney, Bill, George, Joey and Bubba; his partner Margot; his niece Penny, his grandchildren, Kingsley, Brooke, Dylan, Heather, Nick, Jackie, Jordi, Scott, Kate and family members Janet, Sally, Jeff, Barb and Allan. Predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Grace, together they were loving parents and grandparents, and will be remembered for the strengths and memories they gave us. Teacher, innovator, boat builder, Georgian Bay adventurer and surgical pioneer, he devoted his career to the creation and advancement of neurovascular surgery in Canada. His contributions to surgery are honoured each year through the University of Toronto's Department of Surgery W. Lougheed Microsurgical Course. A celebration of his life will be held at Central United Church, 54 Ross St., Barrie on Friday, October 8th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the W.
