MAIR, William
Passed away on December 20, 2002 in his 74th year surrounded by his family at Sunnybrook & Women's Health Sciences Centre, Toronto. Survived by his children, Ian (Kelly), Andrew (Kim), David, Fiona (Richard), Grandfather of Duncan and Alison, dear friend and companion Ruth Christilaw.Born in Newmilns, Ayrshire, Scotland, Bill served with the RAF before coming to Canada in 1951. He married Muriel (nee Lucy), in 1953, and together, they raised their family in London, Chapleau, Sarnia and Elliot Lake, Ontario. Teacher, principal, school administrator, Bill retired as Director of Education of the North Shore Board of Education in 1988. He served his community as director and chairman of St. Joseph's General Hospital and ARC Industries Ltd. Bill enjoyed his retirement in Algoma Mills, and after Muriel's death in 1993, in Bracebridge ON. Private arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's General Hospital, Elliot Lake ON, 705-848-7181, c/o The William Mair Fund.
