Zeke, I cannot express my appreciation for the time that we spent together While I worked with the Foundation. It was the thrill of my lifetime, which was all brought together because of you. All my love and admiration, Robert (Bob) Braiden

Karen and the entire O'Connor Families. Seeing Zeke at Sears always made my days alot brighter. I worked on the switchboard/mailroom and when I was on the Switchboard your Dad's cubicle was not too far from my desk. I did help him when I could with things for the Foundation and he introduced me to Sir Edmund Hilliary himself. He also shared football stories with me. He was and incredible, generous, loving, giving man. He will be so very much missed by all who knew and worked with him. May the Foundatio work live on it his memory.

Zeke was my friend. We met during very dark days in Hospital. From the moment we met, we were tight. He became a pillar of strength when I had none. He was kind and gentle, a wonderful story teller, terrific listener and tremendously humble. I am forever grateful to have met this man and am forever changed.
Thank you Zeke.
The Martin & Jane Murphy Family

The Murphy and O’Connor relationship dates back to post WWII when two pairs of young newlyweds, embarking on their careers, had both moved into neighbouring Toronto apartments in a building on Eglinton Ave. near Bathurst St. The Murphy’s were impressed that the O’Connor’s had a TV and the O’Connor’s were wondering why Martin plugged his car into an electrical outlet on cold winter nights. This blossomed into a life-long friendship. Martin and Zeke clearly enjoyed one another’s company and would tease each other and carry on like silly kids when they met.
Their friendship expanded to include whole family gatherings at the farms in Hudson Heights, Quebec and Meadowvale near Toronto. Hosting the Murphy clan for a day was no little feat. However, it always turned into a fun and memorable great day for both parents and kids alike. Reuniting friendships with a glass of wine by the fire or zooming through the fields on Skidoos towing skiers and toboggans, the friendship quickly expanded to the children. This continued meeting for ski days north of Toronto.
Our families have continued to cross paths over the years; Zeke joining Lambton for many rounds of golf with Martin, meeting Sears sports celebrities, hearing tales of Nepal and Everest, or supporting the Hilary Foundation and Special Olympics. We were happy to see Zeke at Martin’s 90th birthday party a few years ago. He went out of his way to comment on how much he enjoyed time spent with Martin and Jane – called them special people.
Zeke was someone who once you met did not forget. His positive manner and enthusiasm were infectious. He was always interested in what you were up to and would share some anecdotes from his activities since we last met. He was a celebrity in his own rite and we always sought out his CFL football colour commentary on radio or TV. It is sad that another member of the great generation has passed on. We will miss him, but not forget him.

Zeke was an amazing individual. He accomplished so much during his lifetime that I was constantly amazed with his spirit and passion. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to his stories about Sir Edmund Hillary, the foundation, the celebrities that he met, his football career and joining him at Argo Alumni events and lunches at Kingsway Fish and Chips. I first met Zeke at the Manor where he was a neighbour of my mother. We had a connection right away as we both played with the Toronto Argonauts and he was my uncle's football coach at the Balmy Beach Club. I will truly miss Zeke and so glad that I had the opportunity to enjoy his company.

I worked with Zeke at Sears from the late 70's to early 80's. He was truly one of the nicest men I have had the pleasure to work with. I have so many fond memories of my time in his department.
He led an incredible life outside the office and touched the lives of so many people. May he rest in peace of a life well lived. Our condolences.

In my life I have met some great, wonderful people, people who made me feel so good about myself, people accepted and loved me as I am, and Zeke was one of them.
Zeke was always smiling, always full of energy, I wish I will always remember you, even in my old days when I don't remember much from life, because you are one of the few people who influenced my life in the right direction.
See you in paradise Champion because we still have a lot of work to do.
I love you and I will miss you Zeke. Thank for adding my name to your book, the best gift ever.

Zeke was a wonderful, loveable, energetic man. He was dedicated to his Family, his Sport, Sears and the Hilary Foundation.
He seemed to be always busy and on the go; but, never to busy to stop and chat, listen and make you feel better about life.
God bless Zeke and his Family.

Zeke was one of a kind--athlete, adventurer, and raconteur. A force of life with a warm personality and humanitarian spirit. He will be missed, but remembered fondly, by many. His legacy will live on.
