He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Bruce Ward; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Halter. For 64 years, Bill and Pat shared a wonderful life together, filled with family, friends, fun, skiing, travelling, and helping others through the practice of Medicine. Bill followed the footsteps of his late father, Dr. A.G. Strang, into medicine, where he found his passion in life. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario in 1963, Bill completed his internship and post-graduate training at the Toronto Western Hospital. He completed his certification and received his Fellowship in Family Medicine. For over 30 years, Bill practiced Family Medicine and Geriatrics in Niagara Falls, Ontario, often as Chief of the Family Practice Unit of the Greater Niagara General Hospital. In the 1970s, Bill and a dedicated group of doctors in Niagara Falls started a mentoring program for McMaster University medical students. The students interacted with patients in the doctors' offices to learn hands on patient care. The program continues on to this day. In 1997, Bill continued his medical career in Chattanooga, Tennessee, practicing Family Medicine and Geriatrics until his retirement. He and Pat returned to Toronto in 2020. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held in the spring in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
