WILLIAM ARTHUR SWINIMER "Bill" Surrounded by his loving family, William "Bill" Arthur Swinimer passed away, at home on November 13, 2023, at the age of 79. Bill was born on February 23, 1944, in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; children, Jennifer (Tim) Silvester, Dan (Elaina) Swinimer and Amanda Swinimer; grandchildren, Madeleine and Eva Silvester, Jesse (Kirsten), Sadie and Grayson Swinimer, and Mahina and Nesika Burley; great-grandchildren, Nala and Emme Swinimer; sister, Rae Sawler; and sister-in-law, Pat (David) Orriss. Predeceased by mother, Hilda Swinimer; and siblings, Elaine Demont, Joan Nauss and Jack Swinimer. Uncle Bill, or 'U.B.' was beloved by many nieces and nephews and their families, both in Ontario and Nova Scotia. A very special thank you to Drs. Anand, Darei, Mollen and Gulamhusein, and the staff at Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital. A heartfelt thanks to Bill's loving caregivers, Grace, Reggie, Renzi, Edna, Reizel, Aileen, Ninette and Wendy, who made it possible for Bill to be at home. We will be forever grateful. After a successful career with the Bank of Nova Scotia, Bill founded Uniplast Industries, a multinational plastic film company. His exceptional success in business was recognized by the City of Orillia in 2001 with the creation of the annual William (Bill) Swinimer Business Leader of the Year Award. Bill passionately supported a number of charities and was especially committed to Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, giving generous donations on behalf of his family and sitting on the board of directors. His commitment to the community of Orillia culminated in his induction into the Orillia Hall of Fame in 2023. While Bill was profoundly successful in business, his lifelong focus was definitely his family and friends. His extraordinary life of kindness, generosity, leadership and success has been an inspiration to all who knew him. 'A true measure of a man is how he treats someone that can do him no good.' There will be a celebration of life in the spring with details to follow.
