William Tostevin Obituary

William "Jerry" Charles Tostevin passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in Toronto, just days shy of his 93rd birthday. Born on March 28, 1933, Jerry was the son of the late William James Tostevin, who was from Guernsey, and Hilda Button Tostevin of England - heritage that helped inspire his lifelong passion for travel. He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Lola Lemire Tostevin, whose French-Canadian roots led to many cherished trips together to Paris; and his beloved children, Lisa Ann Tostevin and Peter William Tostevin, and their partners, Audry Kalman and John Marshall. He was a proud and caring grandfather to Caleb, Ethan, and Quintin Tostevin, who brought him great joy. Jerry was a chemical engineer by training, earning his undergraduate degree from McGill University, and later an MBA from Cornell University. He went on to enjoy a long and accomplished career in the Canadian oil and gas industry, where he was respected for his expertise, professionalism, and dedication. Outside of his professional life, Jerry had a deep and enduring love of the outdoors. He especially enjoyed camping and spending time in nature, as well as canoeing and kayaking. He also had a passion for tennis, reading, writing, photography and pottery, embracing both active and creative pursuits throughout his life. He will be remembered for his strength of character, intellect, and the quiet impact he made on those around him. Jerry leaves behind a legacy of love, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the natural world that will be cherished by his family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
