Bill was a member of the Scarborough Coin Club for over 14 years who enjoyed meetings and coin shows. He had a real passion for gold coins, and was particularly fond of Newfie gold. We had a personnel connection in that his father and my uncle were with the Toronto and Dominion Banks when they merged. I am sure Bill is still brousing for gold

Bill was a good friend of Dave and mine. Over the years we visited and enjoyed his cooking. He made the best brisket I ever ate. He came to our daughter’s wedding and he was here for one of his birthdays. He was very interested in silver collections and I remember his bunny. He will be missed. Now Dave has post office company in Heaven. God bless.

If this is the William Wilding who used to live on a very quiet residential street in Scarborough, then I likely have the right one. Though I knew him for many years, even having been invited to Christmas dinner (with other business associates) on two occasions, it was always "Mr. Wilding"- never "Bill". I would see him at coin shows (in the '90s), or he would come to our downtown office, knowing his love of Canadian Dollars, we had something in common. He was always pleasant. Never a bad thing to say about anyone. He was both quiet & reserved. I remember a number of wooden cabinets he had in his home. I recall one or two in the kitchen, and one in the bathroom. Very skilled pieces of their craft, though completely, and almost odd in their shape and form. Only in hindsight, have I come to appreciate the ingenuity it takes to create something where no one else has done anything similar. I wonder what happened to those intriguing wood working? Did he go on to create other masterful works? His passion for collecting with such great specificity was rare. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.

I checked "classmate" because there was no option for "former classmate, 57 years ago, at Northern Secondary." I remember Bill well and fondly. I can still see him sitting in front of me in biology class in Grade 10. I got news of him over the years from Sherry, a neighbour of my mother's. I was happy to know that he had found a career at Canada Post for so many years. I didn't hear about his farm, but I'm glad he could enjoy retirement too. My condolences to the family.
