YVONNE THOMPSON

With deepest sadness, we announce the passing of Yvonne Thompson on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the age of 71. She will be missed by her daughters, Stephanie and Victoria; grandson, James; brother, Andrew; nephew, Stuart; son-in-law, Chris; dog, Murphy; and a legion of loving friends. Born in Toronto on November 30, 1953, to Andrew and Mary Lewis, Yvonne lived a rich life full of travel, working for the Asian Wall Street Journal in Hong Kong, and serving as the President of the Canadian Women's Club in Chicago. She worked in PR and Communications for 50 years at companies including Manulife, Castrol, Kiewit, and Aecon. Yvonne was a larger-than-life presence, full of laughter, wit, and sage advice. Her door was open to everyone, and there was always a seat at her table. She showed her love through selfless acts of service, and she was especially devoted to her children and grandson. She will fondly be remembered for her apple pie, beautiful garden, and enduring loyalty to the Toronto Blue Jays. Visitation will be held at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., Toronto, on Thursday, November 20, 2025, and Friday, November 21, 2025, from 5 – 8 p.m. Funeral Service on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Royal York Road United Church at 1 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at the church.
