Martin Pollock Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Martin (Marty) Philip Pollock, after an impossible battle with cancer. He passed at home following a MAID procedure, as in this whole battle it is the one thing he had a choice in. Marty is survived by his loving wife Lori, daughters Andrea (Liam) and Heather (Adam) and his two best buddies, grandsons Keith and Kyle. He also leaves behind siblings Mike (Arlene), Marcia (Roy), Mark (Peggy), Madelaine, Monica (Paul), and many nieces and nephews. Marty is predeceased by his mother Lorraine, father Keith and sister Marlene. At 66 years old, Marty was a retired Peel Regional Police Sergeant, as well as a distinguished member of the Ontario Amateur Wrestling Officials Association. He will fondly be remembered for his fantastic and often offensive sense of humour. In his last few days, he spent his time saying good-bye to his family and his legion of friends and colleagues. Those that knew Marty know how tough he was. This rare, painful, and aggressive cancer beat him up badly but couldn't change his character and he kept everyone laughing until the end. In lieu of flowers, donations to CAShh or CNIB would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life is planned for November 20th, from 1-3pm at Shoeless Joe's, 367 Guelph Street, Georgetown.

Chris Hall & the GDHS wrestlers

November 27, 2022

On behalf of the GDHS wrestling, and the Hall family, I'd like to pass on our condolences to the Pollock family. Marty was tough, but it was always clear that he had a good heart. He always treated our wrestlers with kindness and respect and was the best of role models for our athletes. Marty was one of a kind, and he'll be missed.

I´m so sorry to hear of Marty´s passing and to find out about the pain he experienced. Marty officiated at many tournaments where I wrestled and he´s part of the fond memories I have of that part of my life. I remember him as being kind and smiling a lot. My heart goes out to his whole family, especially Heather (who I knew back in high school through wrestling). I hope the comfort of friends, family, and memories gets all of you through this challenging time.

We, the Notre Dame wrestling club are saddened to hear of the loss of Marty. Marty was so good to our little wrestlers. He made sure they had fun and truly enjoyed their wrestling tournament experience. We are thinking of you, the Pollock family, in your time of sorrow.
