66 years
Bob passed away on March 24, 2023 at St Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Bob was the second of 4 children born to Cliff and Vivian Phillips on June 27, 1956. He took his schooling in Hawarden. Bob was always the adventurist type. He went out on his own at a very young age, working at many different jobs starting locally. At the age of 22 Bob moved north where he loved to be. He enjoyed working for different construction companies, running graders on the ice roads in Tuktoyaktuk, NWT. Moving and settling in Fort St John, Bob worked mainly with heavy equipment. In 1984 he returned to Saskatchewan where he started driving trucks for different companies. He finally bought his own truck with his own logo on it, Bob Phillips Trucking. Bob met Roxie in 1987 and has often stated that the first time he saw Roxie, he knew he would marry her. In 1989 he returned to the Fort St. John, B.C. and in 1990 Roxie joined him. Living there for several years, then moving to the Yukon, he worked for a company hauling heavy equipment. This is where Bob and Roxie were engaged. While in the Yukon Bob had the opportunity to work in Russia for a company he worked with in Fort St John. This took him to Northern Russia. He worked there until he and Roxie were married on May 27th 1995. In 1997 Bob and Roxie had the opportunity to work overseas together for Northern Construction, a company contracted to build an offshore island in the Caspian Sea, Kazakhstan. After they returned to Canada, Bob and Roxie put down roots east of Saskatoon, buying a quarter section of land and this is where they built their dream home. They were blessed with two daughters Mikayla Fawn Phillips, born April 30, 2003 and Daphney Dawn Phillips, born Aug 22, 2005. Bob loved his girls so much and taught them to be adventurous as well. Bob had always wanted to raise buffalo and they had a good-sized herd for a number of years, at times numbering as high as 55 head. Bob's struggle with IPF started in 2011 and progressed to needing a double lung transplant. By the grace of God he received a double lung transplant on November 27, 2013 which gave him the opportunity to watch his girls grow up and make many wonderful memories together as a family. Bob had some issues throughout the 9 years after his transplant, BUT never did he give up his outlook on life. It was with determination and gratitude he loved his wife and girls and was not prepared to ever give up. His health began to deteriorate the last couple of years, and it seemed that he was in and out of the hospital. Although he fought hard, he could not overcome the last battle. He passed away with Roxie holding his hand and surrounded by loving family. Bob Worked Hard, Bob Loved Hard – his girls were what kept him going. Everything Bob did he did to the best of his ability.
