It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mom, Eloise (née Johnson) Cherry, on September 2, 2023.
Mom was born near Ardath, SK, on January 15, 1924, later moving to a homestead southwest of Conquest, SK.
She is survived by her two children, Scott (Connie) Cherry and Nora Cherry; five grandchildren, Shawn (Dana Bergh) Cherry, Deana (Ron Chan) Cherry, Robyn (Carson Martin) Cherry, Alicia Morris, and Stuart Morris; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Green; sister-in-law, Lois Kruger; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil Cherry; parents, Murray and Vernia Johnson; and sisters, Audrey (Bob) Bartholomew and Juan (Bill) Herrick.
Mom participated in many sports, such as softball for the Saskets, curling, bowling and tennis for many years. Mom was a very talented seamstress and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, and cross-stitch. After graduating from Madeline School of Sewing, she worked at the T. E. Eaton Co. department store in Saskatoon, where she met her future husband, Cecil Cherry. She also worked for Bonli Interiors and Clark Interior Decorating, then finally took on the role of homemaker with the beginning of her family. She was known for volunteering to sew costumes for school plays, choir and dancing. She was also famous for her baking, in particular, her bread and butter tarts.
She will be missed by many people.
At Mom's request, there will be no service, and a family and friend Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a
Charity of Your Choice. Condolences for the family may be sent to
