I grew up in Cadiz, KY. I became a UK basketball fan in 1956 when I was 13. Adolph Rupp was a legend as was Joe B. Hall after him. I became employed in St Louis County, MO in 1969 but remained, and still am a UK fan. In 1978 I got my first chance to attend a UK basketball game. I attended the UK - Arkansas N.C.A.A. semifinal and the UK - Duke final game at the Checker Dome in St. Louis, MO. I saw Jack Givens score 41 points against Duke and saw the dunk by James Lee at the end of the game. I had a VIP pass to the games and to the UK locker room. I met UK players and Joe B. Hall. It was thrilling to be in the locker room. Coach Hall was a class person and remained so through his coaching career and through the rest of his life. RIP Coach Hall.

Coach Hall guided the UK Basketball program from the post Rupp era to the present while enduring enormous pressure. His courage and endurance is the reason the WIldcats are not a program of distant memory. Hiring and recruiting African American men while suffering ridicule and resentment, Coach Hall filled Rupp's shoes and then some. He was our homegrown coach who was the best of our best. R.I.P.

UK has a long history of excellence on the hardwood, and Coach Hall was a huge part of that. Great coach, who had great character.

He was a winner not only on the court, but off it as well. A truly nice guy, but still very competitive on the court. He will be missed.
