LYTLE, Edith
1936 – 2023
Edith Alvina Agnes (Poirier) Lytle was born at the Elrose Hospital, Elrose, SK on July 1, 1936, to Maurice and Margaret Poirier. A younger sister to Doreen and Robert. Later, an older sister to Ed. Edith spent her younger years on the farm south of Wiseton, SK. After high school she enrolled in the City Hospital Registered Nursing program in Saskatoon and graduated in spring 1958. She worked at the Dinsmore Union Hospital and Prairie Manor for many years until retirement in 1987. Edith married Leigh Goldwyn Lytle on November 21, 1958, and they farmed ten miles south of Dinsmore until his passing in 1976. They had four children; Janice (Gerry†) Thomson and their children Travis (Jill), their children Mack, Tyce and Jayli; Stacey (Tyler) Gifford and their children Cohen, Embry, and Kolbie. Mavis (Mike†) Hallahan and their children Clinton (Aleesha) and their children Winifred and Penelope; Erin Hallahan. Russell (Mary) Lytle. Sheila (Freddie) Pelletier and their son Clint and grandson Oscar. She remained in her home in Dinsmore until her dementia and other health issues brought her to her final home at the Dinsmore Prairie Manor in 2019 where she was cared for with warmth and kindness. Edith's family would like to express their utmost gratitude and thanks to the staff of the Manor and Dr. Mynhardt. Edith is survived by her brother Ed Poirier (Carol) and brother-in-law Ralph Manson, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law Adele Irwin (Lytle) and her husband Art, as well as numerous niece's nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Margaret and Maurice Poirier, brother Robert Poirier, sister Doreen Manson and sisters in law Gert Poirier and Muriel Poirier, Leigh and his brothers Dean and Russ and Leighs sisters Faye Beattie and Vivian Berg. In laws Helen Lytle, Nina Lytle, Bernice Lytle, Joe Beattie, and Burton Berg. Leighs parents Frank and Margaret Lytle. A Service of Remembrance was held Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Dinsmore Community Hall, Dinsmore, SK. Fellowship followed with interment in the Holt Cemetery.
