In his 77th year, passed away suddenly at his home in Buckhorn, Ontario. Born in Laren, Netherlands; and immigrated to Ontario with his family in 1951. Loving husband of Carolyn (Nixon) Joore for over 53 years. Proud Father of Christian (Sarah) and Michael (Paula) Joore, and held the title of "Opa" to five adoring grandchildren; Azariah, Solan, Linden, Isabella & Sophie Joore. Brother of Barry Joore (Barb) and brother-in-law of Marjorie Shephard (Walter) of Peterborough. Brother-in-law of Bette Evans-Davies (and the late Derek), Bill Nixon (Joy), and Wray Nixon (Carole), all residing out west. Son of the late Catharina & Jacobus "Dick" Joore (Joore Construction); and brother of the late Johanna Joore.
Tom excelled at many things and attended Queen's University at an early age graduating with an aspiring Engineering Degree. This led to a career with Ontario Hydro which took him & his family throughout the province, landing in Sudbury, Mississauga and Whitby for work. In his retirement he personally built and crafted the "cottage" home where he & Carolyn have enjoyed living for over 40 years. His stone work, gardening, golf games, record keeping and ancestry research were all passions that kept him busy, as well as quality time spent with his family, and annual trips to the sunny south. Always one to lend a helping hand no matter the task, no matter the obstacles, with creativity and a sense of accomplishment. His smile and laugh brightened the room. He will be greatly missed by his family, nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date to follow his wishes.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
