Dr. Archibald ROBERTSON

It is with deep sadness we announce that after a very long and fulfilling life, Archie passed away in his 99th year on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Fairhaven Home. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth Robertson and the loving Dad of Joanie (The Poan) and Varahi Maggie-Ann (Carole). Archie will also be sadly missed by his granddaughters Erin (Mike) and Amy (Dylan); great-grandchildren Savannah, Brooklyn, Cohen, Bennett and Callie; nephews Alan (Polly), Iain (Anne), Gordon, David (Ann), Werner (Astrid) and niece Fiona.

Archie grew up in Glasgow, Scotland and served with the RAF in WWII. He graduated from Glasgow University and headed to Australia having joined the Australian Army Medical Corps. It is here that Ruth and Archie's first daughter, Maggie-Ann was born. Returning to Scotland, Joanie (The Poan), their second daughter was born before the family left for Canada in 1960. In his new home, Archie was a doctor in the Canadian Armed Forces where he rose to the rank of Major and completed his specialty in ophthalmology. Archie continued his career in private practice in Peterborough and served the community for many years. His well-deserved retirement saw Archie playing golf, meeting up with dear friends and staff at the Porch and Pint, reading from his eclectic book collection and spending cherished time with his family.

Archie's intelligence and quick wit, gentle nature, love and kindness will be missed by all and our deep love will be buoyed by all the lovely memories.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the wonderful care received from the St Elizabeth home care team arranged by Home and Community Care Support Service (Central East), and to Dr. Morelli and the incredible team at the palliative care unit of PRHC. Finally heartfelt thanks to Archie's loving and caring staff at Fairhaven Home who helped to make Archie's last days so comfortable and peaceful.

In keeping with Archie's wishes, there will be no formal service. An informal celebration of life for family and friends will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Nisbett Funeral Home, Peterborough.
